HOB is an internet based Spectrum emulator, now that is something different. It has been programmed in Java and you can play many classics online - of course you can't play the games on your HD but at least you have some great classics to choose from.

Designed for any computer capable of running Java coding - even the Dreamcast.

Again the basic requirements are a 486 DX2/66 with at least 16MBs of RAM and a good internet browser.

Installation	None Required.
Ease Of Use	Very simple, all you need to do is select the game you wish to play from the many available on the web site.
Compatibility	Not realy relevant to an online emulator as you can't play any other games than those that are available to you.
Graphics	What more can I say other than superb, Nigel has done a great job with this emulator and considering it was written in Java the quality is just as good as on off-line emulator. You can also change the size of the screen from small to big and the video quality from high to low - these of course depend on your connection and are often best left at default settings.
Sound	We didn't notice any sound when we were playing it but that doesn't mean that it isn't emulated. Try it and see.
Speed	The speed is very accurate and constantly gives you a nice 3.3Mhz emulated Z80 all the way through. Considering that this is on online emulator and your connection is pretty much always busy the speed is very good indeed and the loading time is very small.
Registration	The beauty of emulation is that most authors create these superb programs in their free time and therefore expect nothing in return. Hob does not have a registration fee and is 100% free.
